We are encountering some challenging times as we endeavor to care for our aging parents. There are a lot of issues we don’t understand & yet there are even more issues happening right in front of us that we can’t fully identify. We can’t yet put the name to the face. How can we move forward in the right direction when we haven’t fully identified the challenge we face?
Many times we find that there are many nuances & dynamics to each matter that arises. Sometimes these matters can be so deep & so complicated that there is no possible way to see all the angles. At those times I realize how limited the human prospective is & how much guidance I need from Jehovah.
“I will give you insight and instruct you in the way you should go. I will give you advice with my eye upon you” Psalms 32:8
That thought is comforting to me because not only will Jehovah give us insight, but as we move forward he will continue to watch over us, making sure we are moving in the right direction. Of course to benefit from this guidance we must pay attention to it, accept it & continue to listen to it. Jehovah gives us guidance in the Bible. It’s very valuable – not to be overlooked. Isaiah 48:17 &18
He also answers the heartfelt prayers of the righteous when they are in harmony with his will & purpose. We have to remember, Jehovah is the great potter he will mold us into something beautiful if we let him. Therefore our prayers are not always answered in the way we think they should be. Jehovah provides for us – but he also trains & teaches us. We must pay attention to how he answers our prayers so that we don’t miss out on important lessons we could be learning. Isaiah 64:8; Proverbs 15:29; 1 John 5:14
Jehovah’s ways are higher than ours, just as the heavens are higher than the earth. As we take care of our aging parents, we will continue to encounter mind boggling things we don’t understand. I’m sure we will feel lost & even afraid sometimes. But I know this, we will find the answers to baffling questions if we look to Jehovah. We will feel calmer & at peace as we look to him for insight & guidance. Isaiah 55:9; Philippians 4:6 & 7.
